We have the right to choose the way we operate in our world… as long as we don't hurt others, infringe on their rights and their choices and respect ourselves and everyone else. We live and die by those choices and are responsible for the consequences of them. Why do we think that others should live their lives based on the choices we make for ourselves? Who died and made us God? These songs reflect many choices that are made by people every day… Addiction, homelessness, love and rejecting love… some of those aren't so much choices as ramifications of our choices, our decisions perhaps based on bad advice or neglect, ignorance or even selfishness. Here's hoping that the world makes better choices in the furture. In the meantime, we have beautiful music and artists who gift us their love and their love for music and humanity every day. We are grateful to Sam Robbins, The Rough & Tumble, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Dana Cooper, Edessa, Tom Kimmel, Rebekah Pulley, Ruth Wyand and Al Scortino for the gift of their songs and the wisdom they offer.

Choosing Love, Maggie & Mike Lucky Mud
29:57Lucky Mudtag:luckymudmusic.com,2005:Post/71244732022-12-18T19:00:00-06:002023-01-12T17:44:28-06:00Rainbow Promises
Are rainbows really proof of anything except the magic of light, prisms and reflection? In Ireland you'll see multiple rainbows on endless days of mist and rain and sun. The promise is really simple! There is life. There will always be life as long as there are rainbows and the earth exists. What more do you really need? Take your life and create color and beauty and hope. Live fully and richly with no promise of tomorrow and no regrets about the past. Make it beautiful, like a rainbow and glory in the diversity of the light spectrum. We are all one, under the rainbow, below the sun! Each of our artists today are proof that there is love and light and laughter in music, in the world. Ruth Wyand, Beaucoup Blue, Eric Taylor, Frank Graham, Corey Hall, Grant Peeples, Rachel Grubb and Rebekah Pulley are some of the richest people I know because they share their souls, through their music. They each have an online presence and make beautiful music.

Not in the "biblical sense"..... how is that possible... hmm .... is there only heaven in the Bible? I think every culture has a "heaven" wrapped up in its mythology although it might be called Valhalla or Nirvana or your very own "Eden" .... but I digress... imagine that! At any rate, the original question remains. Do you believe in Heaven? Earth is right here! Right in front of you. All around you. You stand on it every day. It's real.... and you know it! But isn't heaven just as real. Doesn't heaven really just mean happiness? Can you create your own heaven... or hell... with your attitude or a mindset. I don't know about you but I choose happiness. I choose heaven. Better still, I feel happiness in the world around me and I relish it. Some wise person once said " Attitude is like a flat tire, you won't get anywhere until you change it " ..... I really think that's true. I believe that music can make us happy, a sense of heaven. It does that for me and I think these artists, The New 76ers, The Strangled Darlings, Bradford Loomis, Dana Cooper, Elaine Mahon, Ruth Wyand, Panama Red and Lucky Mud all know that feeling of touching heaven! Let's take a little walk through this garden of music together!

Happy Hunting, Maggie & Mike Lucky Mud
30:55Lucky Mudtag:luckymudmusic.com,2005:Post/71149852022-12-04T19:00:00-06:002022-12-04T19:00:03-06:00Eyes of Love
Do you look at the world through rose colored glasses? Is it possible to have too much love or too much hope? I think that the more love we give, the more love that grows and the better we feel about ourselves and our lives, the happier we, and all the people around us, are! That's what I think.... but it doesn't really matter what I think. What really matters is what I do.. or you do.. or the people around us do. Love feeds love and when love is starving it leaves space for hate. It's too easy to give into hate when you're starving for love. I say let's feed the world love and let's do it through music. These artists, Sam Robbins, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Passerine, Mean Mary, Pierce Pettis, The Resonant Rogues, Wyatt Espalin and The Restless Saints all have enough love to share and it's a beautiful thing. Let's stroll arm in arm through the world and spread the love. It costs nothing and means so much.

I love the feel of the road. I love the air and the smells of new places... well, mostly...I love the sense of adventure and the scenery of new places. The discovery of uniqueness along the way. Travel broadens your horizons both physically and mentally. Meeting new people with different cultures, beliefs and opinions is a wonderful eye opener for me. I love to hear what people are thinking, what they're reading and watching. Mostly, I love the smells! The peat fires in Ireland. The smell of hot sage in the West. The smell of must and dampness in England and Scotland. The smell and feel of high desert and scent of cedar trees. This show will take you places, in song, around the country! Grant Peeples, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Rebekah Pulley, Ian Dunlop, The Rough & Tumble, Eric Taylor, Nikki Talley and Lucky Mud all have places to share with you.... Take a ride and capture the magic!!

Do you hope that you have many years to live and love and laugh? Life is the gift that keeps on giving.... until it doesn't... then, you're dead. Let's face it, the alternative to life is death and, I don't know about you, I'm not ready for that. The bottom line is that you need to live your life to the fullest. Take every moment you have and make it special. That doesn't mean that you have to do things larger than life. You just need to take deep, long breaths and enjoy... relish every moment you have as if there were no tomorrow.... because there might not be another tomorrow! It's that precious! These artists have something to say about a life well lived ... or lives well lived! Listen to Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Matthew Kenneth Fowler, Rebekah Pulley, Melissa Carper, Mean Mary, Carly Bak and Michael R.J. Roth to find out how they feel about life. Enjoy! Breath deep!

Every day is a gift that offers the possibility of change and hope. It's a brand new day with not one smudge on it and it's yours to do with as you wish. Many people have hardships and sorrows that are hard to put behind us but watch how hard many of them work to do just that while the "privileged" of us moan about it. You are the captain of your own ship and you make decisions that will affect you every day. Some people make bad decisions and those decisions seem to compound but you can break that string of hardship if you really want to. It takes willpower and sometimes the willingness to accept help and advice but you can change, if you really want to. Change is inevitable, sometimes painful, but always inevitable. Darwin's Theory wasn't that the strong will survive but that those who adapt will not only survive but will thrive. Be the change you want to see! Listen to these wonderful artists and get some inspiration or guidance.... The Rough & Tumble, The Currys, Aaron Bearden, Eric Taylor, Lucky Mud, Tom Kimmel, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons and Sam Robbins are songwriters with a message... I hope you find your message in one of their songs! Let them know if you do....

In love so bad that your teeth hurt when that person comes around? Okay ... maybe other things besides your teeth ... but you know what I mean. Is that real love or just craving? Real love is always there in your heart, your mind, your soul ... in the things you do day by day.. in the way you act and the things you say. Even when you're angry with that person, you're still in love... just not right at that very moment! It makes life sweeter. Love is that thing that makes you want to be with your best friend. That means you always have something to talk about or do together. But everybody has a different idea about what real love is.... I know that. I just know that for me (and Mike) it's a lifetime of living and working and laughing and being mad and sharing and taking and giving and being worried about each other and caring if the other person is feeling happy or sad. It's a life... hopefully, well lived. I know that these artists, Sam Robbins, Bradford Loomis, Ruth Wyand, Achilles Wheel, Briam Smalley, Wyatt Espalin, Paul kamm & Eleanore MacDonald and The Myriad all have their own ideas about love.... I wonder what they have to say about it. Let's listen ....

How can you compare a smile to a $100 dollar bill or a kind touch to a $1000 dollar bill. Give me the simple things every time. A dollar bill can light a fire or buy a burger (not much of a burger, but a burger nonetheless) but a kind gesture or word can save a life. My favorite quote is by Oscar Wilde, Irish poet, who said "the cynic is one who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing". I think that might apply to a lot of folks these days who seem to equate success and value with money instead of quality of life and happiness. I know that Mean Mary, Eric Taylor, Carly Bak, Michelle Ingrham, Pierce Pettis, Sarah Mac and Tom Kimmel know what real success is. You can hear it in their music. In the words of their songs. If you have love in your life you are one of the wealthiest humans alive.... I'll take that any day!!

Everybody! Secrets don't have to be a bad thing. Most secrets aren't. It's just our own little piece of world that we don't really want to share. Our own private story. Sometimes it's a dream we have that's just a little too personal, something we hope will happen but we don't think ever will so it's our little "wish upon a star" moment. There are certain secrets that we don't want anyone to know because some people can be judgmental and cruel. I love little secrets. As long as they aren't hurtful or cruel or make us feel bad and isolated. Keep your little secrets and hold them like precious gems to take out and watch them sparkle in private when you need a lift. Or, like these artists, Lis & Lon Williamson, Matthew Kenneth Fowler, Bill Scorzari, Rachel Grubb, Connie Laine, Beaucoup Blue and Dana Cooper put them to music and share away!

Except that I can be a little more realistic. Sort of... I believe that people are intrinsically good and will do the right thing... in most cases! Are you the eternal pessimist or the eternal optimist? Do you feel like you need someone to "guide" you in the right direction or do you have an innate sense of right and wrong? I say, most of us know what we should and shouldn't do and how we should treat others. See... I am Pollyanna... I hope you are too. I know each and every one of these artists are great human beings and their music proves it. John French, Nikki Talley, The New 76ers, Lucky Mud, Al Scortino, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Buddy Mondlock and The Buffalo Gals write beautiful, soulful music that tells you who they are. Let's listen and find out...

To some it's sittin around, strumming on a harp, singing la de da all day (whatever a day is there, you know .. in paradise) maybe takin a toke now and then with your feet propped up on a velvet pillow (it has to be velvet, you know) petting your favorite cat, dog, ferret... whatever... your best friend.. with pomegranates in a bowl with strawberries and whipped cream.... uh... not that I've thought of it... paradise... at all...mmm... maybe I digress. Anyway, whatever you think your particular paradise is, in your mind, what if you felt like you would never have that dream come true? Is it possible to dream something, probably totally unrealistic, and then felt like you've lost the remotest possibility of achieving it... even though it's unachievable anyway? Does having a totally unrealistic vision of "eden" set you up for forever failure? Are there any answers to impossible questions? Are there really aliens waiting to make us pod people??? Er.... never mind...hmmm... la de da... Our featured artists on this remarkable show are Mimi Hearn, Strangled Darlings, Matthew Cochran, The Reckless Saints, Sam Robbins, Dana Cooper, The Rough & Tumble and Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald.... You'll love this music ... Let's just forget about the other stuff ... aliens, paradise, harps and stuff... okay!!

It can be anything you want it to be. The skies the limit! Actually, your mind is the limit. If you get bogged down in negatives and hopelessness you can't get anywhere. You've just eliminated all of those possibilities. We can rise up to the occasion. We can all do better, be better and when we are, we can help others do better and be better. Let's face it, we are all in this together. When we do better, the world around us does better. The people around us do better, feel better, live better and love a whole lot more. It just takes one ripple to start the wave.... Let's do it.. together! We'll start here by listening to some uplifting, soul stirring music by Frank Graham, Brian Smalley, Lucky Mud, Eric Taylor, Grant Peeples, Melissa Carper and The Myriad. I can feel the waves rising up, can't you?

Do you ever feel like you just don't fit or you don't have a real place in your community, family or society? You're probably in need of an attitude adjustment! I mean.... really!! You're likely placing yourself in that position, without even realizing it. No one really wants to be on the outside, feeling like a fur coat on a 100 degree day. But if you take a hard look at yourself and your actions, you are, more than likely, letting your own self doubt, your self pity create barriers in your acceptance by others. Mike always says, "attitude is like a flat tire. You won't get anywhere until you change it"... ain't that the truth!! Or maybe I'm flat wrong... maybe you are the victim of society... or a scapegoat. I don't pretend to know. I just think "try it and see.. what could it hurt?" .... if it doesn't work, you can just go back to being alone and depressed with no one to love or spend time with.... hmmm .. any whooo... these artists will give you a new perspective on life ... listen to Rebekah Pulley, The Sarah Mac Band, Tom Kimmel, The Reckless Saints, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Mike Jurgensen and Alicia McGovern ... their music may just change your life or, like a flat tire, a new outlook or attitude! What could it hurt?

Maybe being "all powerful" isn't all it's cracked up to be. I've never seen more unhappy people than those who say they have everything, and more, than they've ever wanted. Money, power, fame... doesn't really mean a thing if you're a miserable person. It just doesn't! I know... you're thinking, "I'd like to see for myself"... don't take my word for it. Just look at them! The divorce rate is phenomenal. The suicide rate is deadly. Their kids are a mess .... for the most part, anyway! If you are an unhappy, unfulfilled person, money won't fix that! It just won't.... Not that poverty is all that great either but, you know, it sure makes people around you a lot more honest. Nothing is more honest than great music! Songs are philosophical jewels that relate a meaning. One song may mean the world to someone and nothing to another. Listen to these artists and see if you find your meaning in songs by Frank Lindamood, Beaucoup Blue, Ruth Wyand, Bradford Loomis, Achilles Wheel, Mean Mary, The Currys and Panama Red. I'll just bet you will.

Maybe a series of games that take you unexpected places. Things you were never prepared for or counted on. Life is like playing a game when you don't know the rules. You just make them up as you go. I mean, we have the basic rules, like the 10 commandments (which, by the way, every society, every culture has its own "10 commandments") but not the precise rules that tell you the ins and outs of the game. There are no real winners and losers. It's just that some people have a clearer vision of the game they're playing and perhaps a better understanding of the outcome they're looking for. I, for one, don't have a clue but I love playing. I'm just bouncing around like a pinball, laughing (most of the time) when I hit an obstacle and then bouncing over to another wall or tunnel. It's always an adventure out here in Mudville. These artists may have a better grasp on their particular game than I do, or maybe you so let's give a listen to Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Michael R.J.Roth, Rachel Grubb, Dana Cooper, The Rough & Tumble, Wyatt Espalin, Lucky Mud and Dave Griffin and see what their game is and if we want to play it with them.

We don't have time for meaness and bitterness. It's time for love! Love can fix anything. If you have the blues, love can fix it. If you have a broken heart, love can fix it. If you're in despair, love can fix it. Love is the end all... be all... it is the answer to every question and ill in the world. You just have to open your heart and your mind and let love in. These songs can help guide you to all of the goodness and love in the world. I equate music with love. Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Tom Kimmel, Sarah Mac Band, Bill Scorzari, Al Scortino, Buddy Mondlock, The New 76ers and Pierce Pettis share these songs of love and loss and everything in between. Open your heart and let love in and then share the love with these artists..... and your friends... and tell them how you feel.

Are they being honest with us? Are they true friends? What's their motivation for staying close to me? If you think you're alone in this, you are so mistaken! All of us have those questions, doubts, at some point in our lives. Watch the signs! All of the signs. They are certainly there. We just choose to ignore them... a lot of the time! After all, aren't we nice people. Fun to be around. Sincere in our relationships. Not all people are so simple. Don't reflect your sincerity in other people. Let them tell you who they are .... and then, believe them. Not with their words. Those slip easily off of the tongue. Watch what they do. How they treat others. Evaluate their honesty with others. Watch those signs and you'll certainly figure out who is true... and who is not! These artists will tell you with their songs! Do you feel things deeply or do you just ride the crest of them and never dive into the depths? Sometimes we use our lack of deep emotion as a defense mechanism. That way we can't get hurt... right... so, so wrong. When we allow our feelings to dive deep and then resurface we are giving them the full force they need to cleanse our soul of that pain, that hurt, the love, the anger or desire. That doesn't mean that we take our hurt feelings out on others or ourselves. it just means that if you are feeling deeply about something, you have to allow yourself that moment to process... and then move on. That's grace! That's loving yourself enough to care deeply then continue on your way, without regret. Regrets are killers. They are unresolved emotions. Go ahead... dive deep... resurface and live free. These artists and their music just might help. Listen to Melissa Carper, Lis & Lon Williamson, Tom Kimmel, Dana Cooper, Brian Smalley, The Currys and The Reckless Saints for just a little advice, or just some peace.

That deep shudder in your soul, where you feel like someone else has taken over your body and you don't know where you are. It certainly brings you up short and makes you rethink, well... everything! There are times when that moment changes your life. If that's happened to you, think of it as a gift. Without that momentary fear, you might have done something stupid or reckless. It may have saved your life! Life lessons are jewels. They may seem rough and unexemplary but over time they take on a life of their own and may become a guidepost .. not to mention a great story to tell your friends .... or not! Think of these artists and their songs as life lessons, cautionary tales or just a reminder that we all hurt. We all have fears and traumas but we survive them... most of the time! Sarah Mac, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Ruth Wyand, Bradford Loomis, Frank Lindamood, Michael R.J. I wasn't thinking. I was just letting the moment take me away and going with it. Like the wind suddenly catching the hem of your dress and blowing up over your waist. Nothing to be done. It's already happened and you just hope you have on pretty underwear and onlookers weren't too shocked. Sadness and tears are kind of like that feeling. Suddenly overwhelming and powerful and there's nothing to be done in that moment but go with it. It just happens. The blues can be overwhelming but if you let them run their course, most times you feel better when they've gone. It's a risk..... but isn't that life? Isn't it all one big chance? Take a chance with Mare Wakefield & Nomad, Frank Julian, Al Scortino, Ruth Wyand, The Strangled Darlings, Beaucoup Blue, Dana Cooper and Buddy Mondlock. Just let yourself fly with the wind over the strains of these beautiful songs and live in the moment.

Blindly floating along, Maggie & Mike Lucky Mud

Daylight dreams for your life and the things you want to do, the person you want to grow into or the life you hope to have, are essential to living a full life. Those dreams may change with your age, or circumstances or with your inner development but you have to have dreams. Nighttime dreams are different. The stuff that feeds your fantasies. The stuff that your brain needs to sort out and analyze. The things that you dream under the starry night sky are your soul realities. I love dreams that don't make any sense, or at least we don't think make sense. Those are the ones that are trying to tell you something about yourself, your soul. Those dreams are sometimes more important than the others because they can tell you who you really are, not what you plan or hope to be. Sit back and dream with Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Sarah Mac Band, The Winterlings, Bradford Loomis, Lis & Lon Williamson, Lucky Mud, Michael R. J. Roth, Panama Red and Rebekah Pulley for a short 30 minute ride through the Starry Dream cycle and maybe you'll learn something about these artists .... or yourself. Take a chance!

Not in a bad way, small ..but in the "world is so vast and infinite" and I'm a speck, a piece of dust, part of the infinite piece that makes up this world, kinda small. Sometimes we think we're so powerful, we think the world revolves around us. It's easy to feel that every little mistake is a disaster and our world will fall apart because of it. But it's just not true. The world is made up of millions of us... all living and dying and making mistakes and doing wonderful things. The breath from every human being all breathing together could create a hurricane. That's the force of life. We make giant changes when we all work together. Sit back for just 30 minutes and allow yourself to be a small part of the world through music. Brian Smalley, Frank Graham, Lucky Mud, Pierce Pettis, Melissa Carper, The Rough & Tumble, Wyatt Espalin and Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald and you make up this musical world together.

We didn't have a plan and we had no idea what we were doing. We just did it! Sometimes not having a plan works..... sometimes it doesn't. Do all of the plans you make work exactly like you planned them or do your plans frequently fall apart because of serendipity? Fate and chance are funny things. I think that you make your own chances and that fate can trip you up .... or it can help you out. You have to trust your instincts and believe in yourself, and your partner, and take that leap of faith. These artists have taken that leap and created a place for themselves and their art. We're sharing music by John French, Tom Kimmel, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Mimi Hearn, Passerine, Eric Taylor and Achilles Wheel on this show. Give a listen and let us, and them, know what you think.

I mean it.... it could get ugly! That's a real life lesson along with, stay off the track off Hattie's Shack, don't park on the railroad tracks or don't pull a pigs tail. I know you know all of these things but do you strictly adhere to these life lessons? I know I do! I may break some others but those I pay attention to. Is it okay to pick up stray polecats or pet a Rhinoceros or sleep with a snake? Maybe that last one is a little more common than we know...... but I digress!

These artists, The Buffalo Gals, Mean Mary, Grant Peeples, The Currys, Ellen Bukstel, Ken Gaines, Barbara Paul and The Reckless Saints have some life lessons wrapped up in their songs. Make sure you listen closely and pay attention. They could save your life!

Music, art, a person, place or thing? Maybe its the burning issue of the moment. The gypsies show passion through their music and dance. It's awe inspiring and makes me breathless sometimes. Do you have an outlet for that fire in your blood? I watch a beautiful horse move over a rolling plain and I think that there's nothing more lovely. Watch a dancer move, a baby laugh or someone doing something honorable and kind and tears come to my eyes. I get choked up. That's how I honestly feel about great music and this show has that quality. Rachel Grubb, Beaucoup Blue, Ruth Wyand, Lucky Mud, Matthew Kenneth Fowler, Sam Robbins, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Rebekah Pulley and Dave Griffin provide the music and help you feel that fire in your blood.

We get crazy over a boy/girl/issue and it takes over our lives. It makes life edgy and a little wild. Or maybe that's just me. Could be. I know everything seemed SO important when I was young. So big and life changing. I was certain I would save the world. As I get older, I realize that this old world has been around a long time and, like the Gulf of Mexico, there are tides that ebb and flow and patterns that evolve. Some things change quickly. In the blink of an eye. But some things change so slowly that we never really appreciate that there is truly change happening. I believe that the real changes in this world come from inside. Inside each of us there is an evolution of thought, of care of real humanity and real love. There is real love in the music of The New 76ers, Nikki Talley, Pierce Pettis, Michael J. R. Roth, Mike Jurgensen, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Rachel Grubb and The Resonant Rogues. I hope you feel it.

As a matter of fact, many of those "different people" have changed the world. Looking at the world through a different lens sometimes makes the colors brighter or sharpens the images or simply gives you a alternate perspective! The world would be mighty bland if we were all alike. Innovations and the innovators have helped make the world a better place. Appreciating all of the colors, differences of culture, differences of opinion, languages, art and geography around the globe and even in our back yard makes for a better society. A society that celebrates our diversity and refuses the attempt to assimilate every individual into oneness is healthier and more humane. The music in this show "Different Strokes" is certainly not ordinary. Let Matthew Cochran, Rebekah Pulley, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Elaine Mahon, Del Suggs, Alicia McGovern, The Buffalo Gals and Al Scortino show you the wonderful differences in their music that keep us all humming or dancing along.

Is there a special place where you feel loved, where you feel warm and safe? The heart knows what it needs to feel "at home" with another person or furry friend or even alone. We all have a longing to be there.... wherever that is ... that special place that makes us feel at home. These artists have the power to take you there. Maybe for just a few minutes or maybe they will give you a permanent sense of place. Either way, let's take a short ride together through this beautiful music and maybe, just maybe, you'll get "there". Our artists on this ride will be Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Melissa Carper, The Rightly So, Ruth Wyand, Sarah Mac, Tom Kimmel, Wyatt Espalin and Lucky Mud.

Bon Voyage!! Maggie & Mike. Lucky Mud

Absolutely certain that you are on the right path. Undeterrable, immutable, unwaveringly determined. Maybe that's good. Maybe! But maybe, I say MAYBE, we need to step back from that certainty and with clear eyes, assess where we are and what lies ahead. All too often, we get jarred off course, a new path opens and suddenly it makes a whole lot of sense to follow it into a brand new beginning. Forced into changing something that you never even considered for one moment. New paths can be scary but sometimes, scary good. Keep your options open and don't get bogged down in surety. There are so many options, so many paths and so much life! These songs will reflect some changes, some constancies and always original music by unique artists with one major thing in common... they are excellent singer/songwriters and musicians! Listen Eric Taylor, The Buffalo Gals, Lucky Mud, Frank Graham, Mean Mary, Elaine Mahon, Del Suggs and The Resonant Rogues for some attitude adjustments and stories to give you some perspective. Then let them all know what you think of their music.....

We're all guilty of overlooking or ignoring potential possibilities .... okay... maybe I should just be speaking for myself but I like to think I'm not alone in missing some chances. It's really a matter of paying attention and trusting your gut instincts. I like to believe that I'm pretty aware but I know that I'm sometimes oblivious .... If we payed a little more attention to the world around us we might be a little more in tune with the environment, with our friends and partners, our community. Maybe these artists can offer a few clues through their songs included on this show. Artists like The Winterlings, The Currys, The Rough and Tumble (that's a lot of The's...lol..) Ellen Bukstel, Friction Farm, Grant Peeples, Michael J. Roth and Nikki Talley don't always have the answers but sometimes you just need to know the right question.

Are we just trying to explain something to ourselves... or others? Is there something in us that drives us to express some unspoken passion ... or trauma.. or are we just story tellers with a gift of gab/music/drama? Drama, conflict, desire, historical reference or just a question or curiosity. These things are the stuff of dreams, of songs and books. We all have a story to tell. Some people like Scott Dalziel, Brian Smalley, Dana Cooper, Larry Mangum, Rebekah Pulley, Bradford Loomis, Matthew Kenneth Fowler and Pierce Pettis are just really great at telling these stories. Maybe they are their stories but maybe they're ours as well. Maybe thats why a particular song means something more to us than others. Who knows? We are all so interconnected that maybe we all have the same story. You figure it out..... I'm tired! But that's a story for another day! I just want to listen to some great music here and relax.... hope you do the same!!

Have you ever been in love or think you're in love? What does love really mean? Is it the deep burning desire that shakes you awake in the middle of the night or makes your heart flip flop at the sight of your intense interest? I have known, and still know, great love. It is the tiger that protects your heart and lets you know that you are safe. That no matter what you do, you will still be loved and cared for. To know great love, you have to give great love! You have to burn with the protective glare that no one can look into. A light so bright it keeps all darkness at bay. No lie can live there. That's not to say that you never have grievance with your beloved. Sometimes the heat from the disagreement seems like it will turn you to ash but it's that exact fire that saves you and creates the Phoenix. It is inevitable.... and that's what makes a good song. The conflict of love, of pride, of independence and self respect. Love isn't easy ..... but it is everything. Just ask Melissa Carper, Michael J. Roth, Rachel Grubb, The Resonant Rogues, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Ruth Wyand, Lucky Mud and Frank Graham .... (especially Lucky Mud) about love! They have a lot to say and sing about and I hope you listen and let them know you love what they do.

All of those are considered arts but what about the art of love, of kindness, of being a true friend. Those are the arts that transcend the physical. Can you have true art without these essential qualities. There is a soulless darkness that some people possess. The technique of "artistry" can be exemplary but if it lacks the depth of love, kindness and loyalty it's a dead art. No soul ... no true art! I have witnessed many performances that left me cold. No emotion, no heart, nothing that shook me or made me laugh or cry! I cannot separate my heart from the music and I'm suspicious of those who can. These artists all have the ability to wind their souls into their songs. The Buffalo Gals, Reckless Saints, Resonant Rogues, Rough and Tumble, Tom Kimmel, Alicia McGovern, Scott Jackson, Ken Gaines and Lucky Mud make you feel their music. At least, for me. Let them know if you feel the same.....

Is it the lack of a physical structure or a solid dwelling place? Maybe it's the loss of purpose or sense of belonging. Maybe the homelessness isn't always physical but emotional. I know people who are perfectly happy to not have a physical structure to maintain. They have a place and a sense of belonging that doesn't apply to a house, per se, but to a community of people who are like minded. Maybe we put too much emphasis on "ownership" of stuff, of placement. Who knows! I only know that people make me happy much more than stuff!

These songwriters know a little about that and they'll tell you how they feel, if you'll just listen....Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Tom Kimmel, John French, Ruth Wyand, Elaine Mahon, Lucky Mud, Michael J. I love to drive. I also love to travel to other countries and see the world. I even have thoughts of living in foreign places and being a vagabond, with little, to no possessions (is that possible?).... but just like Dorothy, I feel that inner voice saying "there's no place like home". Not that I want to live in Kansas. It's beautiful but a little "plainey" for me. But, again, that's me. When someone says "home is where the heart is" I honestly feel that way (I know its a little corny, kinda like Kansas, and overused but I feel that way).... It's your best friend (friends). Your favorite spot under a tree to look up at the sky and contemplate the world without all the craziness that the human world is right now. Your own particular breathing room and comfort zone. Your favorite old, faded sweat pants or shorts and tee shirt. Nobody cares what you look like or the cheesy book or tv series you like. You ain't got no 'splainin to do... to no one or nothing. It's Home!! These songwriters will take you there .... or not... but take the chance and see what they have to offer. Buffalo Gals, Al Scortino, Frank Graham, Ken Gaines, Lucky Mud, Rachel Grubb and Scott Jackson all have their own opinions on these things. Check them out online or on their individual web presences.

Do you carefully consider every move you make. Weighing the consequences versus the pleasure. Approaching life cautiously and carefully. Or are you like some of us.... just throwing caution to the wind and taking life as it comes? There is a thrill to just running blindly through life and taking the bumps along with the slippery slopes to whatever consequence lies ahead. Maybe you're the carefully carefree kind. The one who kind of looks ahead, sees the bumps and proceeds anyway. There is no right or wrong to the way you take life. It just is.... and you just are! As long as you look at life as just another adventure, you'll be okay.... I think so anyway. These artists are the adventurous types.... or are they... you decide. Listen to Resonant Rogues, Rebekah Pulley, Reckless Saints (do you sense a theme in these names?), Dana Cooper, Ruth Wyand, Sarah Mac Band, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald and The Rough and Tumble (see, there it is again) and let us know what you think! Sometimes we overstay our welcome and we don't even know it. There we are just lazin' around thinkin' all's right with the world when we start to get the "hairy eyeball", as they say in Ireland.....the fishy feeling' that something just isn't right. Yep! It's time to skedaddle .... Maybe life just doesn't have hard and fast rules. There are some! Like the 10 golden rules ... but the nuances are the things that make you look foolish. Those pesky little shades of gray or grey... see... it's all about perspective or where you were raised or who you were raised by or around. Maybe you're the kind who always knows what's what.... or maybe you just think you are. Different perspective..... Each of our songwriters in this show has one of those....different perspectives, I mean! Ask Wyatt Espalin, The Currys, Eric Taylor, Grant Peeples, Matthew Fowler, Lucky Mud, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald or The Rough & Tumble what they think.... or maybe they will tell you in one of the songs featured today. Or, maybe you should listen to more of their songs and get tuned into their inner thoughts and feelings. After all isn't that what you like about music? Or maybe that's just me..... Could be!

Flyin' away now, Maggie & Mike Lucky Mud

We drift from shiny new thing to shiny new thing but underneath that shininess there are always small, quiet voices whispering to us if we just stop long enough to let the dust settle and listen. You know that instinct to run.... the instinct to turn around and walk the other way or disbelieve what someone is telling you. You know! You know but you may choose to ignore that warning beeping in your head like the ever present back up beep in Sam's .... eek! That's the early warning system that's put in place to keep us safe. Or maybe I'm the only one hearing those voices ..... could be just me... I don't know but I will tell you they've kept me out of a lot of trouble.. so far. So have these incredible singer/songwriters & awesome musicians... Bradford Loomis, Bill Scorzari, The Fellow Pynins, Lucky Mud, Buffalo Gals, Larry Mangum, Pierce Pettis and Tom Kimmel... listen to them... they may just guide you into the ethereal and keep you safe! I always hope that the driving force that keeps us kind, makes us have a great life, colors our decisions about all aspects of life and creates purpose is love. But that's just me ... or is it. Maybe we all want love so much that we'll do anything for it..... good and bad. When we don't have it, it makes us desperate to find it, hold onto it, afraid to share it or lose it ... so much that we choke it to death with our need..... or not....Love isn't always pretty and sweet but what would we do without it. I know that I don't want to try living without it. I don't think these artists, Rebekah Pulley, Tom Kimmel, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Sarah Mac, Roy Schneider (Reckless Saints), Melissa Carper, Lucky Mud and Cindy Bear want to live without love either... but you should listen to their songs and decide for yourself.

There is no such thing as a perfect world, a perfect life a perfect place but we have it within us to create a little perfection in our life. When we do that.. some of it leaks out into other peoples lives, into the world and for just that little bit of time, we have hope. We give hope to others. A smile, a kind word and little hug. It's all important. It creates a ripple in time and that ripple flows out and makes bigger ripples and people feel it and it changes the world... it really does. You may never know that you've done it but the change is real. As real as nature or God or happiness or the sun. As real as it gets. Or, you could just walk away and never be the change you hope to see. Your world, your choice, your happiness. Your future depends on you.... I choose love.... I hope you do too... and so do these artists. Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald, Nikki Talley, The Reckless Saints, Ellen Bukstel, The Strangled Darlings, The Rough and Tumble and Rebekah Pulley are all pulling for you to choose them and love and their music.

The sounds of the river twinkling by and the pleasant dreams, while napping, spent on the banks. Love and light and healing happen when you let the sunshine in and feel the warmth of real love all around you! Happiness is a state of mind and the bliss that comes with peace and joy is eternal. Feel that through the songs of Tom Kimmel, Scott Jackson, Lucky Mud, Dana Cooper, Mean Mary, The New 76ers, The Rightly So and Passerine. Live the dream and follow your bliss.... or just sit back and watch everyone else get happy. It is a state of mind after all!!

Someone who stands up for what you believe and stands by those people and things you love? Most of us would answer, of course. But how far would you go to protect or defend what you care about. Sometimes we think we're committed to something..... until we're not! That's okay. Change is inevitable, painful... but inevitable. Not all change is our choice but it just happens. Kinda like being hit by a car. Totally unexpected. Totally out of your control. But s... er...stuff happens! Just do your best to do the right thing. That thing your heart tells you to do. You'll (we'll) be okay... because really, love is all that matters and when love is your driving force, you can't be too far off course....

These artists can tell you all about loyalty and honor and love and trying your best.... Buffalo Gals, Eric Taylor, Sarah Mac, Pierce Pettis, Sam Robbins, Alicia McGovern and Beaucoup Blue might have some answers.... or not... just give their songs a listen and there might be answers for you tucked neatly in the lyrics.

But sometimes they do come out and sometimes they seem like betrayal but to whom? The kind of love that makes us vulnerable is powerful.... it can withstand any hit .... well, almost any. Light is powerful and the more light you shine the better you feel but are you trying to make yourself feel better by hurting someone else? As Melissa Carper sings, sometimes "it's better if you never know". Or, as Connie Laine says, there's a "Secret side of You"... Pierce Pettis sings about "That Kind of Love" because we all want that. Take a chance. Be bold and sometimes, hold your tongue and be kind. All of these songwriters will make you think about these choices and more. Heads up, Melissa Carper, The Rough & Tumble, Al Scortino, Pierce Pettis, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Connie Laine, Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield and The New 76ers will give you their spin on love and lies and secret kisses.

Time and time again we say we're in love but what does that mean.. really? Is there a moment where you feel so lost and lonely or left behind that your world spins around you and breaks apart in front of your eyes, or is that just drama creeping in?

There is a time to give into those depths and then, sometimes, there's a time to just laugh at the silliness of being the drama queen du jour....Laugh right along with all of us at our mis-steps and mistakes and realize we're all in good company. If you can't laugh at yourself, believe me, the world will be laughing AT you. Be a clown.... it's okay.. Wyatt Espalin, The Currys, Buddy Mondlock, Bradford Loomis, Lis & Lon Williamson, The Rough and Tumble, Buffalo Gals and Passerine will all tell you ... they've been there too. From the depths to the wide open spaces of emotion...

We all want and wish for that, sometimes. That incredible second chance to make something right! These times can be the thing that defeats us... or we can emerge stronger and more resilient. It's always within our power with the choices we make about the life we want to live. Or.... you can crawl away into the darkness and decide that you just can't take it anymore. Choices....

Choose to listen to these awesome artists and perhaps their songs will offer that slim glimmer of light that sets you free... try it... Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Eric Taylor, The New 76ers, Buffalo Gals, Dave Griffin, Friction Farm and Tom Kimmel haver the power to heal through their music. Take the chance....

That's our wish for the you... that's our wish for the world. Be a little more caring, a little kinder, give a little more and be brave enough to love wholeheartedly. Merry Merry Happy Happy ..... The kind of wave that pushes you down so hard you almost don't want to come back up... until the air in your lungs expire and you realize you have the will to live. Where you are determined to try to find that thing you hunger for. That feeling can drive you to be reckless or just adventurous, but either way, you're driven. That's what music can do for us. Propel us into another realm where nothing is certain but anything is possible. Let Wyatt Espalin, Elaine Mahon, Beaucoup Blue, Dana Cooper, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, The Rough & Tumble and Rebekah Pulley give you a guided tour through the possibilities and you choose your preferences. It won't hurt a bit and along the way you might just find yourself.... or someone else.... or someone you thought you were but realize you're not. It's all good, man.

We have the ability to rise above adversity and spend our time happily (which in my mind means wisely) ... we just have to decide to dwell on the positive rather than the negative. At least, most of us do. Some people are lost, really lost out there and that shows us just how privileged we are and what a crime it is to choose to be miserable. So, listen up... these artists Lis & Lon Williamson, Achilles Wheel, Fellow Pynins, Lucky Mud, Ken Gaines, Eric Taylor and Ellen Bukstel will guide you through the time tunnel and lift you out of the "Mud" to the clouds of happiness with a positively positive charge. Ride the lightning bolt and shout out with the thunder and let them know what you think of their music.

For some reason those in charge at borders can be a little touchy. I mean, your friend looks like the devil, literally, or he could just be Dana Cooper or Tom Kimmel, but either way, he just looks sketchy. Sometimes you are the company you keep.... and here at Maggie's Musical Farm, we think that's a good thing.... most of the time. Keep company with songwriters and you'll never get bored. You might get in a little trouble, you might even get mad or sad, but I guarantee you will never get bored. Especially at border crossings.... join these artists, Frank Graham, Nikki Talley, Mimi Hearn, The Currys, Tom Kimmel, Dana Cooper, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald and Lucky Mud on the musical road to some venue or another. Have you ever read the lyrics to a good song? Not repetitious, inane rock & roll lyrics (which have their own value as rhythmic relief) but a really good lyric based song that uses powerful imagery or storytelling or emotive words with meaning. There are only two types of music. Good and bad .... and that's totally subjective. You may love a song that someone else hates and vice versa but a good song is one that speaks to you in some way and reflects how you feel or think. Poetry! Let these poets, Lucky Mud, Pierce Pettis, Friction Farm, Dana Cooper, Achilles Wheel, Beaucoup Blue and Rebekah Pulley, speak to you with their music. Then let them know how you feel about the song that speaks to your soul.

That overwhelming feeling of grief, happiness, angst or just life in general. It's so powerful. Music does that to a lot of us. It captures and isolates that feeling and gives it life. Most of us can tell you our life story based on the songs playing in that particular time frame. Like the background music to the movie of our life. These are our "cavemen sitting around the campfire telling myths" moments. We capture them like the paintings on the cave walls for all of posterity to see. These songs are pieces of the drawings that will remain throughout eternity. They are sorrowful, happy, evocative of a special moment in a life and they are all "Fraught With Feelings". Let them lift you up or give you a pillow to cry on. No matter what, Dave Griffin, Rachel Grubb, Buddy Mondlock, Sarah Mac Band, Bradford Loomis, Ellen Bukstel, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald and Al Scortino will hold your hand on the journey and make sure you come home safely!

The breath we breathe, our walking pace our speech patterns, the way our hands express thoughts, involuntarily. It's the rhythm of life. Sometimes we get thrown off path by a sudden change or interruption. A bump in our road. Getting our pace back in step is the goal sometimes, just regaining our equilibrium and feeling "normal". Sometimes those abrupt changes create a new path or attitude and that can be really good .... or really bad. But, although change is painful, it is necessary. These artists all have a pace and motion that sets this show on a path of thought, a path of self awareness or just ... a path... you decide .... featured artists are Wyatt Espalin, Dana Cooper, The Ashley Gang, Lucky Mud, Rebekah Pulley, The Rough & Tumble, Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald and Pierce Pettis.... catch the wave and ride it home on this "Rhythm of Life" ...

We all have those days, weeks, months..... hell, even years! The only difference is that sometimes..... sometimes... we enjoy those difficulties, the trials and tribulations. The daily drama... drama queens and kings. Are we so bored that we have the need to create problems? Pull yourself out of that frame of mind and release those demons. You choose which one you want to follow... or believe... or play with. The seeds of hope are in your heart... plant them and grow a great future. It's all in your power. But maybe the clown, the jester jumps in and has a say about all that romance. Rainy days can hit us like a ton of bricks .... but sometimes a rainy day is perfect for reflection, for inner soul searching and for a leisurely day of love making! ..... Or not.... Okay, I got a little carried away but it's not the end. Or at least, it doesn't have to be. Every day is exactly what you make of it. It is almost totally within your control. You can always find joy .... you just have to choose to do so. Whether you are royalty or just a clown, you are lucky if you have love and if you don't have love, get out there and find some.... Maybe they still are. Maybe we still haven't ..... grown up that is. When you love your life and there's not a whole lot of things you would change about it, does that mean you are or you aren't grown up. Either way, the journey is the joy and the destination ends at a terminal.... get it... it's the terminus, the end, kaput, that's all she wrote.... you know... So I'll just keep on traveling down the road avoiding the terminal and loving life and I hope you do too! These artists have all written songs about the journey.... from the other side, to some certain and some uncertain destinations. Some with traveling companions, some alone but it's all about our journeys.... That urge to see someplace new. That feeling that there's something out there waiting for you. That Itch to Travel. Maybe it doesn't move you the way it does some of us and maybe you don't feel the irrepressible urge for change ... perhaps you just feel a little itchy footed. Searching for sunshine, riding a train, spending time, going to California or adding new flavors to the ordinary bread and salt spices you normally use. It's all here in song and story. It's in the heart and the way you treat others. It's the way you feel about your life and those in your life. Kindness and empathy don't just happen in small towns but that's where they grew up and that's where they were nurtured. You can run away from a small town but you carry that with you wherever you are and whomever you're with. It's not all sunshine and roses and all people in small towns aren't good but it's a little easier to distinguish the bad actors from the good..... unless you're watching a play in New York. Sometimes the worst actors get the best parts .... oops .. I digress. These songs (and songwriters) are about hearts and sadness and love and just carrying on... Songs by Passerine, Lucky Mud, Nikki Talley, Al Scortino, Lauren Heintz, Larry Mangum, Pierce Pettis and Sarah Mac Band. Life is what you make of it.... Welcome to our small town and the awesome musicians who inhabit it. "Look 'em in the eye and tell 'em how you feel.......

We can throw our hands (and hearts) up and give in or we can keep the faith, baby, and strive to make our world, the world, a better place for us to live and love and share our dreams. "We are the sum total of every decision we have made......" and our world that surrounds us reflects those choices, both good and bad. These artists are pointed in their songs of love and hope and earthly delights or environmental disasters.... No matter what ... we haver to keep our hearts dancing and our eyes focused on hope! Heed the advice of Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, The New 76ers, Mike Jurgensen, Rebekah Pulley, Beaucoup Blue, Wyatt Espalin, Bradford Loomis and Grant Peeples. They may or may not be experts at all of these issues but they sure know how to write and sing about them.

Its painful but inevitable. If you can learn to roll with the punches you'll make it through life without too many bruises but it still hurts sometimes. You'll be okay and these songs may help. Rebekah Pulley, Ken Gaines, Eric Taylor, The Rough and Tumble, Buddy Mondlock, Ellen Bukstel, Bill Scorzari and Dana Cooper will be your gurus for the next 30 minutes through the melee that encompasses your lives, and obviously theirs. Let's take that little kick in the butt journey together. it doesn't mean it isn't painful but it sure helps to have a little company to share those changes with. Step into the change and let's hurt a little together.
30:18Lucky Mudtag:luckymudmusic.com,2005:Post/67033472021-09-05T19:00:00-05:002021-09-05T19:00:02-05:00Advice (No Consent)
When you ask for advice from a friend, relative or even a perfect stranger, it doesn't mean you have to TAKE it! I mean, you just asked. So for all the advice out there, it takes consent to actually take it. Some of these songs offer advice and others are just observations. You are never required to take advice from these artists..... I would venture to say... you probably shouldn't take advice from musicians, especially about finances or money, but sometimes, just sometimes they can say profound things that change your life. You decide ..... we offer no guarantees! Consent at your own risk..... but do give these artists a listen. You could pick up a life lesson..... or not! Featuring Lucky Mud (Steve Fisher;songwriter), The New 76ers, Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield, Rebekah Pulley, Pierce Pettis, Achilles Wheel & Beaucoup Blue.

This is another stellar show and a joy to produce for your listening pleasure. Please check these artists out on their websites or other online presences. If you like what you hear, buy a CD or listen with your favorite streaming service, or better yet, if they're in a town nearby, go to a live concert.

All those people who seem to float through life .... savoir faire..... the easiness to breeze along. But maybe it's the story of the swan, who seems so beautifully serene... drifting along on top of the water... while paddling like crazy to keep going. When we compare our insides to others outsides.... you know..those who seem to get by effortlessly... we're making a mistake. Because most people are really struggling along like the rest of us. They just don't let it show. That's why the lyrics in songs, and songwriters themselves, are so important. It clues us into the fact that we're all paddling along the river of life just as hard as everyone else. We aren't all that different. Listen to these songs by Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, Pierce Pettis, Beaucoup Blue, Friction Farm, Buddy Mondlock, Alicia McGovern, Tom Kimmel and Sally Spring & Ted Lyons and you'll understand .... it's the human dilemma... the heart can be a fickle thing and so can life. We're all in this together! No one ever gets out of this life completely without at least a little singe but some of us go down in flames..... its each persons story... each persons weight to bear. Sharing those heartaches is so healing and knowing that someone cares about your pain is such a relief. These artists have shared your sorrows and created songs that help explain how those aches feel. Thanks to Sally Spring and Ted Lyons, Dana Cooper, Frank Graham, Friction Farm, Matthew Kenneth Fowler, Michelle Ingrham, The New 76ers and Nikki Talley for giving us a respite with their beautiful songs. Seriously.... these songs are some of the best of these great artists and a little comic relief thrown in.... or are they really funny? Sometimes you hit the hardest when you get the first punch and make people laugh and then stop and think. It's a part of human nature to not want to be lectured but gently guided. Maybe these songs are a guide...... or maybe they're really just funny... You decide. Starting with Paul Garfinkle (Just a Boy With a Gun), Pierce Pettis, Paul Kamm & Eleanore MacDonald, The Rightly So, Panama Red, Larry Magnum, Ellen Bukstel, Grant Peeples and Matthew Cochran. Whaddya think?
30:54Lucky Mudtag:luckymudmusic.com,2005:Post/66898342021-07-25T19:00:00-05:002021-12-26T15:02:49-06:00Relationships
Relationships can be tricky things. We all have them, it may be with other people, an inanimate object, an animal, a spirit or it could be music. Whatever your particular one is, there is a song about it .... out there somewhere. Something you can relate to. A lyric that says exactly how you feel ... or says something you could never quite put into words. These artists songs are mostly about their relationships. Perhaps with others, or each other or you. They put it right out there for all the honest world to see. Give a listen to Sally Spring & Ted Lyons, Tom Kimmel, Passerine, John French, The Sarah Mac Band, Roy Schneider & Kim Mayfield, Dana Cooper and The Currys.
