Lyrics

My friend Dale said he's part Indian And I've got an old Brahma bull That looks a little like a buffalo If I could just find a pretty girl That likes to ride bareback I think I'd start my own Wild West Show And I can almost hear the crowd On their feet, cheering As she leans down from that galloping horse And plucks a red rose from the dusty ground As the spotlight, bright-white Shines down on her long blond hair She'll live in the dreams Of all the rodeo clowns And before that, I'd ride out on a big old Appaloosa And wave my hat around in the air And I'd shout through a megaphone And you'd hear a hush Whispered through the crowd "Ladies and Gentlemen!" (I'd say) "Now, it's time for the star of our show The beautiful Maggie And her strawberry roan!" Then she'd ride and the crowd would cheer Then we'd have a covered wagon race And she'd come back with me To the motor home And she wouldn't even mind That we just barely broke even And we're probably gonna have to Sell that chuckwagon, too And Pete...the sharp shooter? He's been missing a lot lately But he has everything he owns Tied up in those guns And that big wheel That Wanda spins around on I'm just afraid he might Hurt her someday Without meaning to And I'm pretty sure I could Get rid of everything Except for Maggie and her horse People would come Just to watch her ride I could probably even sell That big Appaloosa (but I'd keep the hat) And I would be happy With just Maggie at my side And in my dreams I can almost hear the crowd On their feet, cheering As she leans down from that Galloping horse And plucks the red rose I threw Picks it up from the dusty ground As the spotlight, bright-white Shines down on her long blond hair She lives in my dreams And in the dreams Of all the rodeo clowns But my lunch break's over Time to punch the clock and go Back to another day at this boring old job Working, and dreaming about Having my own Wild West Show
